Doordeck NFC Keyless Entry

Doordeck uses NFC technology, the building’s access control server and Doordeck’s cloud infrastructure to unlock doors using NFC keyless entry.

The Doordeck contactless NFC tile works alongside the Doordeck software to enable NFC smart unlocking. Doordeck was the first company to embrace using Android and iPhone NFC for building access control.

Learn more about what NFC is, why and how we use it for smartphone door entry.

How does Doordeck NFC Keyless entry work?

The assigned Doordeck building admin will have access to all the doors in the building, those doors are then shared by them to the appropriate users. When a user logs into the Doordeck app and touches an NFC tile, the app will validate against the server to check if that user has door access. If the user does not have access, they will get a cross signifying that their request has been rejected. If a user touches a Doordeck NFC tile for a door that they do have access to, the door will unlock. If a user is removed from the system, they will lose access to the building.

The validation is done through both the user’s token from the app, the building’s server and the Doordeck server. All these keys are encrypted and can only be decrypted by the holder of the private digital key. Doordeck uses the same highest levels of banking and military grade encryption.

How does Doordeck use NFC technology?

The Doordeck contactless NFC tile is paired to your door access system and the door or doors that you want to unlock. The employee’s smartphone and the Doordeck NFC Tile provides smart keyless entry to gates, turnstiles and doors.

Unlocking is as simple and quick as a contactless payment using your bank card’s passive NFC chip. If you’ve been granted access to a door just tap the tile with your smartphone and you’re in.

Tell me more about Doordeck Visitor Management

Our digital pass for a visitor means they don't even need to have the Doordeck app installed, just scan the QR code to unlock doors. A digital key can be shared by a building admin or host via email for a temporary period of time. The visitor can also use NFC for door access by downloading the app to unlock a door using NFC or by scanning the QR code.

Our visitor management system can also be used for issuing digital tickets for events.

Some of Our Clients

We have two sites each with different access control systems, neither of which support smartphone access. We were worried we'd have to start from scratch at huge cost but the Doordeck system has slotted in right alongside. It's inexpensive, simple to install, and easy to operate.

Tom

Director , Cowork

Since integrating Doordeck with our existing ACT door access control hardware we have been able to provide smartphone zero touch door entry to our tenants, particularly important during these times where tenants want to feel at ease.

Freddy

CEO, Savvy

EIG has been using Doordeck since 2016, I can strongly recommend their SaaS solution works perfectly alongside my existing Paxton Door access control hardware. As my staff have been using Doordeck for many years they had the added confidence that EIG were already ahead of the times.

Lisa

FD , Estate Insurance Group (EIG)

Being a multi-tenant landlord, I need to be able to provide access for multiple trades people, and have visibility of the comings and goings to ensure my buildings are secure and run efficiently. Being able to issue visitor passes for specific entry and exit times solves the need to be at the building to let the workmen in.

Nick

Doordeck was the logical access system for us. The UI is intuitive and easy to navigate, and when we need support the team are beyond helpful. We'd highly recommend Doordeck to anyone.

It was simple and straight forward to operate, easy and simple to install on my Android phone. I am really impressed. This block also had electronic gates, which I did use, again worked well to get in.

Mark

Electrician, RMG managed property

I love Doordeck. It's made my life easier and helped provide additional logs of all time stamps comings and goings from the building. It’s also help me to save money and time.

Arilma

It seems super safe. The app is really well designed and easy to use. The widget is very convenient to open the door from a distance (especially in times of Covid, when it is nice to avoid touching door handles, etc).
